Welcome HostGator, Our New Web Host
I would like to welcome HostGator as the new webhosting provider of Rojish dot Com. When it comes to web hosting, HostGator needs no introduction. HostGator is a world leading provider of shared, reseller, VPS and dedicated web hosting. At the time when HostGator was founded in 2002, it was operated from a college dorm room and only had three servers to account for. But this small beginning later turned in to the largest webhosting company in the world with over 7000 servers and hosting 5 million domains.
Why I quit my previous webhost?
I started my blog with a small UK based hosting company which offered unlimited bandwidth and unlimited disk space. The things were smooth in the beginning but as my blog start growing and traffic increased they started complaining about crossing CPU usage and memory limits. Last day I got a mail from them saying that they can no longer handle my traffic and it is better for me to move to another web host. Poor guys, they boast that everything is unlimited but if you bring 500 visitors to your blog in a day they will start complaining about crossing CPU and memory limits. Their resources were so limited that there wasn’t an upgrade option to a higher plan. Ok, I don’t want to create problem for others in the shared server so I decided to change my web host. And there was only one choice in my mind, HostGator.
Why I choose HostGator?
1. Customer Service:
You may be wondering why I put customer service first in the list. Last 2 – 3 years I worked with many web hosts like HostGator, GoDaddy, Awardspace, JustHost and some local web hosts for my websites as well as for my client websites. The lesson I learned from my experience is that it is not the features, but it is the customer service that measure the performance of a hosting company. It is better not to speak anything about the customer service of local companies because it was so terrible. I have to wait many days to get a reply from JustHost. GoDaddy and Hostable was average. Awardspace was fast in responding to mails but lacked live chat feature.
This is the point where HostGator stand apart from others. Their customer service is simply ‘awesome’. At any time you can see more than 100 support staffs online for your help. They are very friendly, supportive and have good knowledge. Do you know that HostGator CEO, Brent does actually involve in their customer support. If you are not satisfied with the regular support, you can always request Brent himself to attend to your questions personally. He had solved many problems himself personally and we can see many of those in the HostGator complain forum.
2. Features:
Every HostGator hosting plan come power packed with tons of features like unlimited disk space, unlimited band width, unlimited emails etc. If these basic features are not enough then there are upgrade plans with advanced features like dedicated IP, free private SSL, and your own Toll-Free number. There are lot of other features available but I don’t want to mess this post by listing all those here. You can see the complete list of features here.
3. Uptime:
All the features I listed above will have no effect if your website goes down always. The HostGator team promises an uptime guarantee of 99.9%. The guarantee is stated clearly in their ToS document and a month of credit will be compensated to all subscribers upon failure of compliance. Any customer with a shared or reseller hosting plan can rest assured that their servers should never have a downtime of more than .01% in any given month. If the customer believes that uptime was less than 99.9% in a given month, they can email sales[at]hostgator.com with the information. HostGator will examine the facts and figures to determine if the shared or reseller hosting package did in fact have an uptime of less than 99.9%. Once HostGator understood that there was indeed a problem with uptime that month, the customer will be awarded a credit to their account.
4. Room to Grow:
The main reason I quit my previous host is because there wasn’t any upgrade option. My hosting company found it very difficult to handle my traffic with the resources available for basic plan. But there was no better plan available so that I can get more resources by purchasing a higher plan. The only way left with me was to change my host. But HostGator provides wide variety of plans suited for each stage of your growth. You can start your journey with a Hatchling or Baby plan (I recommend Baby plan). As your blog start gaining more traffic you can upgrade to Business plan. Once your blog starts rocking you can even thing about a VPS or dedicated server.
5. Free Blog Migration:
Are you afraid to change your hosting because you don’t like all the hectic process associated with blog migration? If you belong to the category of those people who are not so good at tech stuffs then you will be happy in knowing that the HostGator team will do your blog migration absolutely free of cost. I don’t have problems with blog migration but you know I am damn lazy, so I asked HostGator staff to migrate my blog and he did it quickly and cleanly

Welcome to Hostgator mate. I was hosting previously on Godaddy, but switched to HG only because of their live chat feature. I have contacted them many times via live chat and as you have said it in the post, they have the best customer support!!! Support is the most important factor when it comes to hosting.

You are right Rajesh, the best thing in HostGator is their awesome live chat support. If I have any doubts whether it is small or big I can go to their website and start a live chat and clear my doubts within minutes. The support staffs are very friendly and are having good knowledge.

I strongly recommend you to move to WordPress. I am sure once you start using WordPress then you will not think about going back to blogger. With tons of free plugins available there is no limit for the level of customization possible with a WordPress blog.

If you say so, than HostGator is really a cool thing, but for now I’m using a small hosting company as you did.
No problem in starting with a small hosting company. But once you start receiving more traffic and start earning revenue from your website then you should think about moving to a bigger web host.

My brother had the same problem with his website, though he receives more traffic now, he pays much more for the hosting.
i am also thinking to move to hostgator now. My current host is too slow and is not able to handle my traffic and is frequently giving internal server error. Although their live support is always good but this time they are not helping much.
I also started with a small host. The things were smooth during the first few months but once my blog started generating traffic I started getting frequent server errors. So I decided to move to HostGator.

But did you Lost any Traffic after changing the WebHost
Not at all, it was a zero downtime changing.
First I created a backup copy of my website. Then I uploaded it to the HostGator account.
After that I changed my name servers and pointed them to HostGator. When the DNS updation took place the site began to be served from HostGator. So it was a zero down time migration.
i want to change when the time will come.. because at this moment, the traffic need to work hard…

HostGator are one of the best hosting providers out there and while you certainly do not actually need HostGator in order to run your website you will certainly benefit enormously if you do choose them…..Of course you could run your website with extremely cheap hosting from a different provider or even free hosting but you wouldn t get the features and the level of service that HostGator offers you. HostGator offer a variety of different web hosting plans so that you can choose the one that is most suited to your needs. HostGator will offer 99.9 uptime as well as many other things which means that you really do need HostGator in order to run your website as efficiently as possible.
I started with hostgator itself..they are wonderful..within a period of less than 24 hours i got my account activated and till now i m not having any issues with them..

Right now I am under godaddy hosting sad to say I experience loading time problem. It is terrible since they keep on telling me to optimize my website when in fact I already did. My website has an average loading time of 12 seconds. Very bad.
